Employer Coalition Diversity Celebration Event (April 2010)

CREC, together with members of the Diversity Forum, hosted a 'Diversity Celebration Conference & Exhibition' which attracted over 60 professionals from a range of organisations across Leeds City Region. The event was organised to celebrated the achievements of the Coalition's employer-led Diversity Forum, whose key principle is to share best practice on all aspects of equality and diversity, building an enormous wealth of knowledge and understanding on the benefits, issues and impact of diversity in the workplace.

Workshops were held by Screen Yorkshire on the Foundation Placement Scheme, which is a positive action training initiative targeting ethnic minority communities and offering work placement opportunities in the media industry; Rugby Football League on its participation in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index and opening up sport to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community; St Anne's COmmunity Service's work in supporting employees with mental health issues; and the back to work company and its Diversity Champion Programme, which is working to promote equality and diversity amoung large businesses, creating industry sector 'Diversity Champions' who can lead smaller organisations to implement or improve their own diversity agenda.
