New equality and diversity requirements for organisations that contract with the public sector

In 2009 we will see the signing of a new Equality Bill in the UK. Included in the bill is a single public sector equality duty.

This duty is to ensure equality in the provision of goods, facilities and services and will be used to encourage the private sector (and third sector) to adopt best practice by making sure the purchasing power of the public sector is ONLY directed towards those suppliers who can demonstrate compliance with equality legislation.

Reporting on equality and diversity performance WILL BE a requirement of all supplier organisations.

This will impact on ANY organisation contracting or wishing to contract with the public sector or first tier suppliers to the public sector.

The simplest way to prove compliance is to hold an accepted Equality & Diversity Standard Certificate.

Beyond 9to5 founding partner Vivienne Duke can provide a service to 'fast track' an organisation to the point of proving their equality and diversity performance with an accepted certificate.

On the 22nd October she will be running a FREE seminar on how you can avoid the negative effects of not being able to prove YOUR equality and diversity performance to your key customers.
