CREC Flexible Working Group
Welcome to the City Region Employer Coalition Flexible Working Group.
The overall aim of the group is to improve the work-life balance to enhance business and service needs and, in turn, the economic prosperity of the Leeds City Region.
Our hope is that all of our group's members will take the time to add accounts of their own flexible working activity to this online portal, for the benefit of others. You can do this by clicking 'create content' in the top left menu, then selecting 'group information', choosing CREC Flexible Working Group as your audience on the subsequent page. Your post will appear in the news feed below.
Our administrator Sam will keep your group up-to-date by adding details of events, case studies, factsheets, research and information that is helpful to members, but please feel free to add your own. If you are stuck in any way, please email sam.donaldson@yourchamber.org.uk for further assistance.

Occupational Health Helpline for Small Businesses
Taking action on a recent health review, the government has launched a free helpline advising small business employers on how to help employees who are suffering ill health. This will be of use to employers who want to know how to support sick employees, and in some cases keep them working whilst they are experiencing ill health, as well as promote a supportive attitude to ill-health in the workplace. Any employers with questions about the new fit note will find answers through this resource.

The Fit Note
Today the Department for Work and Pensions have replaced the standard medical note, aka the 'sick note' with a new form called a 'fit note'.
The replacement has been made with regard to research that shows that work is beneficial for general health and recovery from illness, and allows GPs to aid the convalescent back to work to avoid long-term absence. Up until now, a sick note would state whether or not a person should refrain from work, but the fit note may now state that they 'may be fit enough', and give steps for employers to provide helpful conditions.
